To understand more about Joe's role in our team, let us first explain what a Service Delivery Manager does.

In short, a Service Delivery Manager (SDM) is the connection between the team and the client. Making sure that things are running smoothly on both ends, a SDM is mediating needs and operational demands within the team. SDMs are multitalented individuals and are responsible for numerous tasks. They are project leads and, among other things, monitor the progress, track KPIs, and always have a close eye on the budget, while keeping in mind the team’s needs in order to have the business run as smoothly as possible. It is a key position in a big team such as ours.

Joe, how did you get to where you are today and which qualities helped you advance your career?

Being curious in everything. It has helped me gain a better understanding of people, processes and methodologies, enabling me to strengthen my ability to make effective decisions on a day-to-day basis. My curiosity has also enabled me to understand that failures are normal when you are continually improving yourself and/or processes. Being solution minded, I love resolving issues and continuous improvement. It’s important to understand the root-cause of issues but it’s easy to spend too much time focusing on the issue, rather than utilizing this time to formulate a solution. By looking at issues from a solution focus, I have been able to achieve consistent results and positively impact others around me.

Additionally, being agile enables me to adapt to what life, or any given day, throws at me and reprioritize effectively without being disappointed that ‘my plan’ has changed. It’s important to be able to reprioritize and reflect on what you have achieved rather than what you haven’t.

Wanting to continually learn. I continue to want to learn from every interaction, action undertaken, successes achieved, and mistakes made. This has enabled me to evolve my skill-set, working style and adapt to new environments easily.

What inspires you to come to work every day? What makes you #FeelGood at Majorel?

Easy answer! People. Whether this is day-to-day interactions, working in collaboration to a common goal or helping employees grow in their roles.

What are your interests outside of work?

I love food, especially trying new dishes for the first time. Whether it’s trying new restaurants for the first time or trying new recipes in the kitchen with friends and family.

Do you have any advice for aspiring young people starting their career journeys?

Your assumptions are often not correct. Asking an additional question (even if it feels silly) for clarification or reconfirming expectations/information to colleagues after a meeting or interaction, ensures all stakeholders have a common understanding and enables a positive platform to succeed.

Thank you, Joe, for taking the time out of your busy schedule. We are happy to have you as our team member and cannot wait to see where you and your team will be headed in the future.
