Natalja's Career Story

Natalja’s career story is one of a strong will, a drive to learn and develop, and, for sure, one of success. Our team gained many new members when the team from Booking.com became a part of our team at Majorel. Natalja was among those people, who were welcomed into our global community. Growing into a new company structure and guiding an already existing team through many changes, comes with its own challenges. We are very excited to have Natalja on board as a strong and experienced leader.

Natalja became a part of our global community when the Customer Service Department from Booking.com joined Majorel as of June 1st, 2022. Since August of last year, she was leading the Lithuanian site for Booking.com. She became the Country Manager for Majorel Lithuania and has since then been a strong guide and leader. Naturally, we wanted to learn more about Natalja, and she took some time out of her busy schedule to respond to our questions.

Career Story

Tell us about your career before joining Majorel.

I worked for Danske Bank Shared Service Center in Lithuania for 14 years. I started in the HR department, then moved to the IT Product Development Department, and after 4 years, I was the 1st employee in the newly opened Shared Service Center. I was responsible for building the organization, lead the first teams and then became the Global Head of Daily Banking Operations. Shortly after, I became the First Vice President and the Deputy Head of Financial Crime Prevention. Later, I was promoted to Global Head for Customer Welcoming. In 2021, I joined Booking.com as a Site Leader, which quickly developed into my current position as a Country Manager within Majorel Lithuania.

We are exceptionally lucky that Natalja’s career path led her to us and our team in Lithuania.

What are your current responsibilities?

Generally speaking, I am responsible for the team working in Majorel Lithuania. Following the transition from our former company to Majorel, there are a lot of activities and processes we have to review and set-up. It is like opening a site in a new country. The difference is that we already have the team and the premises in place.

Tell us about your team and their responsibilities.

Our team in Vilnius has been serving Booking.com customers and partners for 4 years already. This includes taking care of Booking.com’s partners such as all places of accommodation, which provide their places via the Booking.com platforms as well as for the customers, who are using the services on the platform. In our Lithuanian team, we are providing customer service in 8 languages, among them are Ukrainian, Lithuanian, Russian, English and French.

What skills helped you moving forward with your career?

I have never thought about my career as a leader, nor have I dreamed to be a leader. I was always willing to work jobs that were of interest to me, and I was seeking new challenges. Throughout the years, I naturally came to grow and develop, and I started to get more responsibilities. Reflecting on what helped me, I think the courage to try the new, persistence, taking on more responsibilities; not only for myself, but also for others; as well as being a fast learner brought me on my professional journey where I am today.

What is your biggest professional learning?

It is difficult to define the biggest learning, when you were failing and learning all your life. By leading big teams and making sure that everyone is onboard, you learn how important communication, transparency, and trust are. If you want to go fast, go alone and if you want to go far go together – is probably my credo, leading to certain decisions on my way. Having gone through the pandemic, my biggest learning is: do everything today, if you can, as you don’t know what will happen tomorrow.

What makes you #FeelGood at Majorel?

What I see so far, is a professional environment with amazing people from all around the world, the scale of growth and experience is unbelievable. At the same time, despite Majorel being a global and big organization, I see decisions made in a very efficient manner. A lot of attention is paid to Feel Good generally, having it embedded in the culture of the company.

What is your biggest passion outside of work?

My passion is Latin American dance. I started dancing after my second child was born as a hobby, of course, when I was 33. Now I participate in international ProAm competitions and, naturally, spend a lot of time in training. Another passion of mine is WimHof ice swimming. I swim in a lake or river during wintertime, even when it is -20 degrees and water around 3-4 degrees.

Do you have any advice for young people who are just starting their careers?

Know yourself. Always invest in yourself to know who you are, what you like, what makes you happy. Don’t seek a career, seek passion. Some skills require time, and you need to spend a decent amount of time to be proficient.

Already in the last few months, Natalja has impressed us with her work ethics and team spirit. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for her within our team.
